GAR Products is a 64-year-old furniture manufacturer located in Lakewood, NJ. Founded in Newark, NJ by an aeronautical engineer and his wife. After World War II, Morris Garfunkle started GAR Products after he left Curtis Wright where he studied stress on military aircraft. From humble beginnings, the company grew and prospered. Fast forward to 2020 – the company operates out of a 102,000 sq. foot state of the art facility in Lakewood NJ. Under the astute eye of their son and daughter-in-law, the legacy continues.

Our product line is geared towards commercial seating for restaurants, hotels, and other venues for public gatherings. GAR Products survived the crash of 2008, 9/11, and many other periods of difficulty, but the corona virus has absolutely decimated our market. As owners we have stopped our salaries and unfortunately had to furlough half of our people as well as ask for salary reductions.

Unable to sit by and watch, the owners of GAR Products have felt compelled to act. The company has a state-of-the-art upholstery cutting machinery and 7 sewing machines. GAR has re-tooled itself to mass produce masks for the retail market.

The Centers for Disease Control issued guidance recently, recommending that all Americans wear masks in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies) especially in areas of significant community-based transmission. Our retail mask is made of a layer of Sunbrella outdoor upholstery. Sunbrella is inherently water-resistant and bleach friendly. After you use your mask for shopping and errands, dip it into a solution of 50% bleach and 50% cold water. Rinse the mask in cold water and hang to dry. Once dry, it will again be water resistant.

We recently donated masks to the Lakewood Police Department to protect their officers.

Our masks are being offered for $6.00 per mask or two for $11.00

If we receive extra funds, we will use the money to donate to our first responders who are daily putting their lives on the line. You can even specify where they should be sent. If not, we will look to take care of New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut.
